“David Stern is a Mathematical Scientist and Educator with a passion for Africa. He grew up in Niger and obtained a French Bac before coming back to the UK to work as a professional programmer. He studied Mathematics in Warwick, Augsburg, Edinburgh and Sheffield finishing with a PhD in Algebraic Geometry.
David worked as a lecturer in Maseno University, Kenya, for 6 years where he got involved in educational innovation across all academic levels. He got heavily involved in statistics education serving for 4 years as a Vice-President of IASE and is currently on the ISI council, Capacity Building working group and ISLP committee.
David spent a year in Ghana as the Director of Project Development for AIMS NEI before returning to the UK at the Statistical Services Centre, University of Reading working primarily as a research methods consultant with a focus on supporting African agricultural research.
David left Academia in 2018 as a founding director of IDEMS International, a social enterprise focused on building real work impact from the Mathematical Sciences.”
